Verge Repointing

The edging around a pitched roof is called a verge. The verge is where your roof tiles meets the gable end of your home. Mortar is applied to the verge to hold any roof tiles in place and will act as a seal to stop the rain from getting underneath them. Unfortunately, over time, this can crumble and break, leaving your roof open to the bad elements. This is when you are going to need the verge repointing.

This is when you will need to contact an Essex Roofing company like Essex Roofing Services to carry out this service.

In some cases, we will need to strip the tiles away from the edge of the gable and remove the broken mortar. If the tiles are broken then these will be replaced with new matching roof tiles.

The tiles will then rebedded onto a new layer of mortar and then repointed to leave a perfect, neat finish. Sometimes nails can be used to secure slate tiles but it really does depend on the job in hand.

It is possible to mix dyes or colourants to the mortar to match the colour tiles you have on your home. This will finish of your new roof nicely.
